UCSD’s New Superintendent

On December 20, 2020, UCSD board president Katherine Howsare had the privilege of announcing UCSD’s new superintendent, Rosalie Daca. Ms. Daca is currently the Chief Academic Officer in the Racine Unified School District in Racine, Wisconsin, but will start her duties as UCSD’s new superintendent on July 1, 2021.

After the announcement of Superintendent Steve Bass’ retirement in September, the UCSD board started seeking input from staff, parents, and students. The board members sent out a mass email containing a survey for staff, parents, and students to fill out. Recipients of the survey were asked to input what they would like to see in a superintendent.

“Those data points informed our decision-making when narrowing down the 41 applicants to our three finalist candidates,” says Katherine Howsare.

Katherine also goes into depth about how Superintendent Daca is very highly qualified for the superintendent job here at UCSD regarding her glamorous resumé. Daca comes from Wisconsin where she held multiple successful positions as an educator. She was very effective within all of her positions, introducing efficient ideas to better help students within her buildings.

UCSD welcomes new Superintendent Rosalie Daca knowing she will flourish with new students in a whole new state.
